Atención inicial del paciente politraumatizado

El paciente que acude a una entidad sanitaria con antecedente de haber sufrido traumas múltiples, esta es considerada la principal causa de muerte a nivel mundial sobre todo en menores de 40 años, en Ecuador en el ultimo corte realizado por el instituto nacional de estadísticas y censos (INEC) se menciona que la cantidad de casos de victimas politraumatizadas posterior a algún tipo de siniestro asciende a 10.075 victimas de las cuales 90% de las mismas sufrieron lesiones traumáticas múltiples y el 10% de estas víctimas fallecieron, esta cifra se encuentra en ascenso año con año, en la mayoría de casos el tipo de trauma es contundente donde se evidencian mecanismos lesivos relacionados a accidentes de tránsito como caídas.
