Educación para el desarrollo sostenible en la formación académica universitaria: revisión sistemática de la literatura

La educación para el desarrollo sostenible (EDS) se ha consolidado como un eje estratégico de la educación superior, al reconocer a las universidades como actores clave en la formación de ciudadanos críticos y comprometidos con los desafíos sociales, económicos y ambientales contemporáneos. En este contexto, el objetivo del estudio fue analizar de manera sistemática la producción científica sobre la educación para el desarrollo sostenible en la formación académica universitaria, identificando enfoques teóricos, tendencias metodológicas, principales resultados y vacíos de investigación. La metodología adoptó un enfoque de revisión sistemática de la literatura, siguiendo los lineamientos de la declaración PRISMA 2020. Se realizó una búsqueda exhaustiva en bases de datos científicas de alto impacto, seleccionando estudios publicados entre 2018 y 2024, los cuales fueron evaluados mediante criterios explícitos de inclusión y exclusión. Los resultados evidencian que la EDS ha sido incorporada de forma heterogénea y fragmentada en la educación superior, predominando iniciativas aisladas y una integración curricular limitada. Si bien se identifican efectos positivos en el conocimiento, las actitudes y la conciencia crítica de los estudiantes, persiste una brecha entre estos avances y la adopción de comportamientos sostenibles. Las conclusiones destacan la necesidad de enfoques pedagógicos transformadores, una mayor transversalización curricular y el fortalecimiento de la evaluación del impacto institucional de la EDS, con el fin de potenciar su contribución efectiva al desarrollo sostenible desde la educación superior.
