Caracterización de las actividades agropecuarias en tres comunidades de la reserva Chimborazo, utilizando conglomerados k-medias

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo la caracterización de las actividades agropecuarias en tres comunidades de la Reserva Chimborazo. Para lo cual, se empleó un análisis de conglomerados K-medias. Como resultados clave, la aplicación de K-medias permitió la identificación de tipologías productivas distintivas, indicando predominancia de la ganadería ovina y bovina, junto con la agricultura, con variaciones significativas en intensidad y diversificación entre las comunidades. Se estableció una correlación directa entre estas tipologías agropecuarias y la presión sobre los recursos naturales, evidenciada por el cambio de la cobertura vegetal natural para áreas de cultivo y pastoreo. Adicionalmente, la caracterización socioeconómica de los conglomerados mostro diferencias notables en ingresos, acceso a recursos y tenencia de la tierra, factores que inciden directamente en las decisiones productivas. Los resultados respaldan la necesidad de implementar estrategias de manejo diversificadas y programas de uso sostenible del suelo, integrando la compleja interconexión entre el bienestar humano, las prácticas productivas y la conservación ambiental en los vulnerables ecosistemas del área protegida.
