Polifarmacia: una mirada en la medicación del adulto mayor

La polifarmacia se define como el uso de varios medicamentos diferentes por parte de un paciente al mismo tiempo, su uso en los adultos mayores provoca una discusión prolongada sobre cómo esta ayuda a mejorar la calidad de vida de los mayores considerando otras enfermedades crónicas y la decadencia física que estos poseen, es decir, si la medicación de los adultos mayores ha provocado efectos positivos o negativos en razón de la polifarmacia. El presente trabajo utilizó un alcance explicativo para realizar la investigación sobre la polifarmacia, puede explicar el fenómeno y sus características, su repercusión para la población a la que se le contempla, es decir los adultos mayores, y con el uso de instrumentos documentales necesarios para entender la temótica en el órea médica, la cual infiere que la polifarmacia interactíºa con otros factores para la eficacia de los tratamientos farmacológicos de los adultos mayores, desde la prescripción, la automedicación, y otros elementos aislados de cada individuo al que se somete la polifarmacia, la misma que debe ser regulada y controlada a fines de que la calidad de vida de estos individuos mejor.Citas
